Situated in West Central Florida, Ocala is located in Marion County in an area known as the “Nature Coast”.

Ocala offers great cultural events, shopping, fine dining, festivals, arts and entertainment. Ocala is also home to the Paddock Mall, Appleton Museum and Cultural Center, Central Florida Community College, and the Central Florida Symphony.

State Road 200 is one of the main arteries that runs through Ocala, along it you will find all the major automobile dealers, “big box” stores, and chain restaurants.

Ocala offers great outdoor entertainment in a natural setting, including Wild Waters Amusement Park and Silver Springs Nature Park. Silver Springs is a 350 acre natural theme park surrounding the headwaters of the beautiful Silver River, and is the largest artesian spring in the world.

At Silver Springs you can take an adventure in a glass-bottom boat and view the underground springs, see fish, shellfish, turtles and alligators in water that’s up to 80 feet deep and 99.8% pure. Silver Springs also offers rides and exhibits for all ages and is home to a world class concert series which attracts such big name stars as Willie Nelson, George Jones, Clint Black, and Jo Dee Messina.

Ocala is also home to 17 area golf courses, one airport, three regional hospitals and countless medical diagnostic facilities, doctor offices and medical professionals. But it is the horse farms and equestrian lifestyle that Ocala is most famous for.

Carl G. Rose established the first horse farm in Ocala, now occupied by the Paddock Mall and Central Florida Community College. In the 1950's, an Ocala horse named “Needles” became the first triple crown winner from Florida.

As credibility grew in Marion County, more horse farms such as the famous Ocala Stud were established. Ocala Stud quickly became the nations leading commercial breeding farm. Ocala Florida is now considered one of the equestrian capitols of the United States with over 1,200 horse farms in Marion County.

Horse Shows In The Sun (HITS) is Ocala's Winter Circuit. Established in 1981 HITS has become a fixture on the East Coast horse show jumping circuit. Each winter, the Ocala Circuit attracts national and international participants from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
